Dan Buckshi

The City of Walnut Creek has engaged the community in conversations about the future needs of Walnut Creek. Those conversations have ramped up over the past two years, with the City engaging in discussions with residents regarding their priorities and interests, and evaluating growing needs related to the vital programs and services provided by the City. In particular, many City facilities, such as the aging infrastructure in the pool and aquatic and sports facilities at Heather Farm and the community center, that support the community's most valued programs and services, are decades old and nearing the end of their useful lifespans after constant use by thousands of individuals and families. To fund future quality of life needs, the City is exploring the concept of asking voters to consider a ten-year, 1/2 cent sales tax increase (ballot measure) in November 2022.

Following the presentation, Mr. Buckshi will answer questions from the zoom audience facilitated by Matt Guichard, the Chair of the Civic Affairs Forum.

Proven Asset to Our Community

For 34 years Leadership Contra Costa has been helping identify and prepare community leaders. With an alumni roster of more than 700-800 graduates, including former Mayors of Walnut Creek Loella Haskew, Cindy Silva and Kathy Hicks, former Assemblywoman Lynne Leach, former Concord Mayor, Lou Rosas; Martinez Mayor Rob Schroder; and Ret. Superior Court Judge Harlan Grossman, this program has proven to be an asset to the community and society.

The class members have also included Jay Lifson from the Lafayette Chamber
and Steve Van Dorn from the Pleasanton Chamber. As the Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau expands the emphasis on regional collaboration, Leadership Contra Costa provides a unique opportunity for furthering this effort.

Program begins September 2022. Click here to apply!
