Leadership Contra Costasm, the Bay Area's premiere countywide leadership program is currently accepting applications for enrollment in the 2010-2011 session. The twenty-fourth year of this outstanding program will switch into gear in September 2010. The program will kick off with an orientation and reception, and after eight months, close with the graduation ceremony. Leadership Contra Costasm is designed to motivate and identify potential leaders and prepare them for community leadership.
Participants meet once a month by means of workshops, presentations from present community leaders, and group exercises to develop their understanding of leadership roles and prevailing issues with the community.
Topics include: Health and Aging; The Price of Justice; Communications and Diversity; Environmental Concerns; Education; Government & Politics; Contra Costa 2020; and Security & the Future.
With an alumni roster of over 500 individuals, including former Assemblywoman Lynne Leach; former Walnut Creek Mayor Kathy Hicks; former Concord Mayor, Lou Rosas; Martinez Mayor Rob Schroder; and Superior Court Judge Harlan Grossman, this program has proven to be an asset to the community and society.
Sponsored by the Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Contra Costasm accepts 25-30 individuals from throughout the county with diverse backgrounds to participate in the program. Leadership Contra Costasm is geared to people who want to make a difference in the communities in which they live and work and spaces fill quickly.
